Breedekloof Chenin Blanc 2019
The Breedekloof Chenin Blanc 2019 is the third release in this groundbreaking Regional Series.
Producing one fifth of all Chenin Blanc made in South Africa, the Breedekloof Wine Valley has proven itself unmatched in its ability to produce quality Chenin Blanc.
Having invited five of the Breedekloof’s top winemakers to each contribute their best vineyard block to a single wine, the result is a harmonious blend that truly showcases the signature style of this acclaimed region.
All five winemakers were involved in the rigorous selection and blending process, tasting multiple blends together before reaching consensus that they had created a world-class example of Breedekloof Chenin Blanc.
Attie Louw (Opstal Estate), Annamarie van Niekerk (Botha Kelder), Ferdi Visser (Deetlefs Wine Estate), Chris du Toit (Bergsig Estate) and Elizma Visser (Olifantsberg)
Tasting Notes :
Light lemon yellow in colour, the nose exudes amazing fruit purity typical of the Breedekloof with concentrated aromas of nectarines, dessert peaches, golden delicious apple, ripe pineapple and lemon zest, backed up by subtle spicy aromas from well-integrated oak.
On the palate, expect a concentrated, fruity acidity that adds freshness and good length too. Possessing amazing complexity, the finish is long with lingering fruity flavours and enough minerality to add just the right amount of broadness needed to pair with equally complex dishes.
