Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc 2011
4 STARS IN JOHN PLATTER WINE GUIDE
Steenberg in Constantia Valley has built its proud reputation on Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. According to winemaker JD Pretorius this lively wine rested on the fine lees for 90 days after fermentation.
Tasting comments: Lovely tropical notes are followed by herbaceous whiffs and aromas of green pepper and asparagus. The wine shows a strong core of minerality with crisp acidity leading to a firm, lingering aftertaste.
Serve with paella, grilled kob with lemon butter or chicken roulade stuffed with parma ham, spinach and sundried tomatoes. Drink now and within 3 years from harvest.
